While the lovely and talented Janice at Coffee 1st makes my ultimate favourite best ever coffee, and I love the gluten-free brownies she sells, I have a new favourite local for sweet indulgences… Strawberry Fields Patisserie.
The macarons are not only beautiful, they are delicious. This strawberry macaron, for example, hides a sliver of preserved strawberry inside… a lovely little tart surprise, which reminded me of the Vegemite and white chocolate macarons Kylie made for Heston Blumenthal’s chocolate challenge on Masterchef the other week.
Their custard tart is a far cry from the overly sweet, yellow version found in ordinary bakeries. This baby has a delicate buttery crust, a light and milky custard, and a beautiful combination of spices including cinnamon, nutmeg and something else delicious that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
I’m sure to be back, and will post pics of all the delicious things I try! In the meantime check out fellow bloggers posts by Helen at GrabYourFork and Angie at Angie Lives To Eat (and Cook).
