Cafe Dal’or, Dulwich Hill

Cafe Dal'or on UrbanspoonThis cafe right near Dulwich Hill station has the friendliest staff we’ve ever met. Mr Black and I spent a very enjoyable late morning brunch/lunch here, drinking smooth coffee and basking in the late summer sun of the quaint little courtyard out the back. I ordered a (very generous) chicken caesar salad topped with a perfectly poached egg, complete with rich saffron-coloured yolk. Even though the chicken was a little plain, the salad itself was beautifully textured and had a delicious flavour including that lovely, salty, unmistakeable kick of anchovies. Mr Black simply adored his toasted ham, tomato and cheese sandwich which was served with some of the best chips in the inner west. And again, generous, so generous he couldn’t even finish them!

Cafe Dal’or is a great find – the food is good value and enjoyable, but the incredibly warm and personable staff makes it a really lovely place to be.
