  • Strawberry Fields Cafe and Patisserie, Dulwich Hill

    Featured

While the lovely and talented Janice at Coffee 1st makes my ultimate favourite best ever coffee, and I love the gluten-free brownies she sells, I have a new favourite local for sweet indulgences… Strawberry Fields Patisserie.

Izote Mexican on Urbanspoon I would never claim to be an expert (or anywhere near it) when it comes to Mexican or South American cuisine. My only experience of either outside of restaurants was when my family lived in an apartment above a Brazilian couple when I was 9 or 10. I remember they made some delicious food, including a cracking creme caramel, but my memory ends there! Continue reading →

Mizuya Japanese Restaurant and Karaoke on UrbanspoonWe wander down the dimly lit stairs towards eerily glowing underground caves. Strange and haunting melodies (I used the term ‘melody’ loosely) echo from every deep dark corner, the seductive fragrance of sesame and smokiness teasing our nostrils.

Welcome to Mizuya!  Continue reading →

Little Haveli on Urbanspoon Little Haveli is a simple Indian restaurant with a straightforward menu and basic decor. While it’s not a place to go ‘out’ for dinner, I’ll definitely be ordering in from Little Haveli in the future – the food is good value and yummy! Continue reading →

    Plunge Cafe on Urbanspoon

This was a random find on a Saturday lunchtime and we were really happy with our discovery. To begin with, the coffee was good and beautifully presented. Continue reading →

    Tetsuya's on Urbanspoon
For my 30th birthday, my lovely lovely man Mr Black took me to Tetsuya’s. After 5 years of waiting and wishing and imagining, I am happy to say it lived up to all my expectations! (The foodie hipsters who ‘don’t like it’ on Urbanspoon are just picking tall poppies and should get over themselves.) In my opinion, there are no words which can do justice to the experience, the gastronomic adventure that is Tetsuya’s. So instead I’ve posted below photos which I took of most of the dishes – the large photos are of the absolute star dishes, though every dish was sublime! Sorry about the poor quality 😦 Continue reading →

    La Kasbah on Urbanspoon

I came here for the first time last year for a birthday breakfast with my ladies. I have been back several times and chose it for my birthday breakfast again this year.

On this occasion, “Mr Black” tried the breakfast tagine (non-vegetarian of course) and was blown away. I adore it as well; perfectly spiced lamb mince with feta, eggs, spinach, roast capsicum and tomato, served with two kinds of bread. Arghlghlghlghl. He even said it’s one of his top five meals ever!
